BAGGAGE AND PERSONAL EFFECTS CLAIMS

Claims Advice

If you have lost or damaged items of personal property during your period of travel wish to make a claim, you will be required to provide the following documentation:

  • A fully completed claim form
  • Copies of any police reports or declarations if items were stolen. All losses or stolen property should be reported to the police or appropriate local authorities and acknowledgement of the stolen items obtained.
  • Proof of ownership of any items claimed. That is, receipts, valuations, credit card statements supporting documentation that relate to the original items that were lost or stolen.
  • If your luggage was lost or damaged by an airline or carrier it should immediately be reported and a claim first lodged against them. In most cases, they may be liable for some or all of the damage or loss.

Accidental and health requests may involve the appointment of a claims assessor to assist with the collection of any further information required.

INJURY OR ILLNESS CLAIMS

If you suffered an injury or illness during your period of travel and wish to make a claim; you will be required to submit the following documentation:

  • A fully completed claim form
  • Receipts for all medical expenses incurred. This may also include any hospital invoices that indicate itemised accounts or service of treatments provided.
  • Please ensure that the currency in which expenses were incurred is clearly indicated on the claim form
  • A doctor’s certificate or a medical certificate to support any illness claims

Accidental and health requests may involve the appointment of a claims assessor to assist with the collection of any further information required. Original receipts with respect to hospitalisation costs may need to be provided.

Additional Expenses Claims

Claims Advice

Additional or curtailment expenses may occur AFTER your journey has commenced. These are extra expenses that you would not normally have incurred if the claimable event had not taken place. For example:

  • Illness during a journey.
  • Loss of your passport while overseas.

If you wish to make a claim for the above you will be required to provide the following documentation:

  • A fully completed claims form
  • A copy of your travel itinerary or travel documents
  • Receipts for any expenses incurred.
  • Also, ensure that the currency for which the expenses were incurred is clearly noted.
  • Medical certificates to support any illness
  • Copies of any relevant police report if they were called to assist in any matter

LOSS OF DEPOSITS / CANCELLATION CLAIMS

Claims Advice

Loss of deposits or cancellation expenses are incurred if a claimable event occurs BEFORE you undertake your planned journey. If you wish to make a claim for the above you will be required to provide the following documentation:

  • A fully completed claim form
  • A copy of your travel itinerary or travel documents
  • A copy of any itemised costs and or deposits that you paid for your planned journey
  • A letter from your travel agent, tour operator or airline indicating any refunds that you have already received or may be eligible to receive
  • Medical certificates to support any illness or a copy of a death certificate if your travel was cancelled due to a death in the family
